I look forward to the Met Costume Institute exhibition every year. It springboards the fantastical costumes of that year’s Met Gala. It offers a detailed tour through beautifully constructed objects like the black embroidery of 2014-15’s Death Becomes Her, or the whimsical dresses of 2019’s Camp: Notes On Fashion.… read more.
André Leon Talley, the influential fashion journalist known for his iconic personal style and larger-than-life personality, died at the age of 73 on January 18 at a hospital in White Plains, New York, after suffering a heart attack. Rather than mourn the death of this beloved change-maker, though, I’d like to celebrate the remarkable life that he lived.

Not even the chill of mid-January could stop our D.C. ladies from shining in their brightly colored coats at the Inauguration of our 46th President of the United States, Joe Biden. Bundled up in their warm winter gear, masks, and gloves, they communicated through clothing alone. From Dr. Jill Biden to Michelle Obama, here is a guide to all the ceremony’s fabulous looks and what they signify for the presidential term to come.
On a brisk winter’s day in January, the 46th president, Joe Biden, was sworn into office. Standing at his side in turquoise was our new First Lady, Dr. Jill Biden. Her impeccably tailored tweed coat is a Markarian original designed by Alexandra O’Neill, who also created its matching ocean-colored dress. O’Neill founded the luxury womenswear label in 2017 with the idea of combining celestial romanticism and timeless designs that maintain sustainability. Dr. Biden’s ensemble was designed and produced by O’Neill and her team in New York City’s Garment District.
