Growing up, the liturgy at church was always indecipherable to me and therefore became background noise. This is mostly due to the fact that in Eastern Orthodox Christianity, the liturgy is always sung in its original Old Bulgarian. As a child, I couldn’t be bothered to even try to keep up.
