Film Independent Spirit Awards nom women filmmakers

The 2018 Film Independent Spirit Awards nominations, announced this week by presenters Lily Collins and Tessa Thompson, continue to champion new and diverse voices and represent “a true uniqueness of vision and innovation in visual storytelling.”

The following nominations are by women filmmakers, both writers and directors whose work has been critically reviewed and covered by FF2 Media. The nominations include:

Eliza Hittman and the BEACH RATS team, nominated yesterday for TWO 2018 Independent Spirit Awards, including a rare nomination for a woman cinematographer; Greta Gerwig and the LADY BIRD team, nominated for FOUR 2018 Independent Spirit Awards; Ingrid Jungermann and the WOMEN WHO KILL team; Emily V. Gordon and THE BIG SICK team, nominated for TWO 2018 Independent Spirit Awards; Agnès Varda and FACES PLACES team, nominated in Best Documentary category; Lana Wilson and THE DEPARTURE team, nominated in the Best Documentary category; Chloé Zhao and THE RIDER team, nominated for FOUR 2018 Independent Spirit Awards; Ramona Diaz, nominated for her documentary MOTHERLAND.
