AMPAS ’16: 60 Eligible Films

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences just announced the list of 305 feature films which are eligible for Academy Award consideration in 2016. All told, 60 of the films on this list were either written and/or directed by female filmmakers. That’s roughly 20%.

And although you probably have not seen or heard of all 60 films, we have!

The FF2 Media Team has covered each and every one of these 60 films, and reviews are available now at ff2media.com/thehotpinkpen. See the full list of titles below!

So even though few—if any—will be nominated for any major awards in 2016, here are a few superlative films that we recommend you add to your GoWatchIt list!

VICTORIA

Victoria is a stunning achievement. Laia Costa is absolutely brilliant as “Victoria,” a young woman from Spain who moves to Germany knowing no one and not speaking the language. One night while out at a club, she meets a group of four young men. What begins as a night of fun quickly warps into one filled with deadly circumstances. (JEP: 5/5)
